Kamika Ekadashi
Kamika Ekadashi
~ The Ekadashi Beloved to Lord Hari ~
~ The Sacred Story of Kamika Ekadashi ~
The glories of Kamika Ekadashi are described in a conversation between Lord Krishna and Maharaja Yudhishthira.
Once, Yudhishthira Maharaja asked Lord Krishna about the Ekadashi that occurs during the Krishna Paksha of Shravana and requested Him to explain its significance. Lord Krishna replied that Kamika Ekadashi is extremely dear to Lord Vishnu and possesses the power to destroy sinful reactions accumulated over many lifetimes.
The Lord explained that many people perform sacrifices, pilgrimages, and charitable activities hoping to attain spiritual merit. However, observing Kamika Ekadashi with devotion grants benefits equal to or greater than many of these difficult religious practices.
Lord Krishna especially glorified the worship of Tulsi Devi on this day. He stated that offering even a single Tulsi leaf with devotion to Lord Hari on Kamika Ekadashi pleases Him immensely. Such worship attracts the Lord’s mercy and helps the devotee advance rapidly on the spiritual path.
The scriptures further explain that those who observe this Ekadashi with faith become freed from sinful reactions, negative influences, and obstacles that hinder spiritual progress. Lord Vishnu personally protects such devotees and guides them toward His eternal abode.
For this reason, saints and devotees throughout the ages have highly recommended observing Kamika Ekadashi with sincerity, prayer, fasting, and remembrance of Lord Krishna.
