Gour Purnima, also known as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Jayanti, falls on the full moon day (Purnima) of the month of Phalgun. It marks the advent of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who appeared in Navadvipa, West Bengal, over 500 years ago. Sri Chaitanya, often referred to as the “Golden Avatar,” is revered as an incarnation of Lord Krishna Himself, appearing in the form of His own devotee to propagate the sublime practice of chanting the holy names of the Lord.
