The Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwin is known as Papankusha Ekadashi. On this day, devotees worship Lord Vishnu in his Padmanabha form.
Importance of the Fast
Observing a fast on Papankusha Ekadashi is believed to destroy all sins and bless the devotee with eternal merits. This fast purifies the mind and allows the devotee to atone for past wrongdoings. It is said that by observing the Papankusha Ekadashi fast, one is liberated from even the gravest sins.
Recommended Acts on Pasankusa Ekadashi
On this day, it is considered highly auspicious for devotees to perform acts of charity such as cow service (Gau Seva), offering food (Annadan Seva), and feeding Brahmins (Brahman Bhojan Seva) in their name. Engaging in these charitable activities is believed to attract Lord Vishnu’s special blessings and bring immense spiritual benefits, leading to a life of peace, prosperity, and ultimately, liberation (Moksha).
In ISKCON, the fast for Papankusha Ekadashi will be observed on October 14th. On October 15th, the time for breaking the fast (Parana) is from 5:33 AM to 9:26 AM.
आश्विन माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की एकादशी का नाम पापांकुशा एकादशी है।पापांकुशा एकादशी के दिन भगवान विष्णु के पद्मनाभ स्वरूप की पूजा की जाती है.
इस व्रत के करने से सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं और व्रत करने वाला अक्षय पुण्य का भागी बनता है। इससे मन की शुद्धि होती है और व्यक्ति अपने पापों का प्रायश्चित कर पाता है। पापांकुशा एकादशी का व्रत जघन्य पापों से मुक्ति दिलाने वाला माना गया है।
पाशांकुशा एकादशी के दिन भक्तों के लिए अत्यंत पुण्यकारी माना गया है कि वे अपने नाम से गौ सेवा, अन्नदान सेवा और ब्राह्मण भोजन सेवा करें। इस दिन इन सेवाओं को करना अत्यधिक शुभ माना जाता है, जिससे भगवान विष्णु की विशेष कृपा प्राप्त होती है और भक्तों को अपार पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है, जिससे जीवन में सुख, शांति, और मोक्ष का मार्ग प्रशस्त होता है।
